Abrams Group Names Derek Gothie Director of Development

BOSTON – The Abrams Group, a Boston-based real estate development and investment firm, today announced the appointment of Derek Gothie as director of development.

Chief among his duties will be to oversee the conversion of a 97-unit, loft-style condominium conversion redevelopment, The Fremont, currently underway in Worcester, said Matthew Abrams, founding partner of the firm. “Derek comes to us with an enviable record in the redevelopment sector of our industry,” said Abrams. “And, with our company currently moving ahead on several fronts and with at least two other projects in the development pipeline, his project management skills and his hands-on experience will be of particular importance as we continue to execute and grow.”

Gothie, 34, most recently was employed by College Street , LLC, a New Haven,Conn.,- based adaptive reuse developer with properties in Connecticut and Massachusetts. During his more than four years with that company, he was involved actively in an assortment of projects ranging from the rehabilitation of the 200,000-square-foot, former Southern New England Telephone headquarters in Hartford into 132 luxury apartments, to the 160,000-square-foot, historic mill, formerly The Dutton Yarn factory, in Lowell, which was converted into 135 luxury, loft apartments.

Gothie attended Trinity College in Hartford and Northeastern University in Boston. A native of Acton, he, his wife, Linda, and two sons, Alex and Greg, live in Stow.
